Three days of summer, sun, dolce vita and well-dressed gentlemen – that was Pitti Uomo 88 for us. We’ve been to Florence to experience the most important trade fair for men’s fashion.
Among well-known brands we spotted some nice and interesting individual labels such as “Jupe” with beautiful hand stitched ties or “Dalton Bags” with the finest lambswool flannel weekender bags.
Already seen on the fashion folks there were loads of hats, bright colored jackets or suits, wallet chains, suspenders and plenty of arm candy. Not to forget the slippers were worn barefoot (or if worn with socks, then bright patterned ones).
The beard hype continues: either full beard or mustache for the braves.
Not necessary during these days but really nice to see: cagoules in modern fits and colors.
Outside the “Fortezza” it was amusing to see men striding up and down like peacocks and always hunting for the next photoshoot. For us it was a bit over the top so we leaned back and enjoyed the nice guys with that relaxed and natural attitude.
Highly recommended while in Florence:
Dinner at “Alla Vecchia Bettola”: nice traditional restaurant with amazing tuscan food
Aperitivo at “La Terrazza” (Hotel Continentale): beautiful view above the roofs of Florence
Aperitivo at “Gilli”: watching fashion people and sipping on a Spritz
